Yesterday, Universal Pictures released the first trailer for The House with a Clock in its Walls (2018), the first kids and family oriented movie from horror director Eli Roth. This film is the adaptation of the gothic horror novel of the same name by John Bellairs, first published in 1973, which screenplay has been written by Eric Kripke, also the writer of Boogeyman (2005) and creator of the TV series Supernatural (2005– ).
In the movie, Lewis Barnavelt is a young orphan boy that after losing his parents is sent to Michigan to live with his uncle Jonathan. He discovers his uncle is a warlock, and enters a world of magic and sorcery. But this power is not limited to good people: Lewis learns of Isaac Izard, an evil wizard who wanted to cause the Apocalypse so that he could see what happened afterwards. To do this, he constructed a magical clock with black magic, as long as it exists it will keep ticking, counting down to doomsday. He died before he could finish the clock, but he hid the clock in his house, where Uncle Jonathan now lives. Now Lewis and Jonathan must find the clock before it’s too late, and before Isaac’s wife, Selena, gets to it.
The main cast of the movie is formed by Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Owen Vaccaro, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, Perla Middleton, Sunny Suljic, Braxton Bjerken and Alli Beckman. The House with a Clock in its Walls (2018) is currently in post-production and is expected to hit theaters worldwide in September this year. You can check out here the first trailer:
