Captain Marvel is the name of several fictional superheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Most of these versions exist in Marvel‘s main shared universe, known as the Marvel Universe. Created by Roy Thomas (writer) and Gene Colan (art), its first appearance was on Marvel Super-Heroes issue #12 on December 1967.
In their quest to exploit all the charaters from their comic books to the max, Marvel Studios has embarqued themselves in the development of a new feature film, Captain Marvel (2019). The tandem formed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, known for the multi awarded dramas Half Nelson (2006) and Sugar (2008), have been the chosen ones to direct this new science-fiction action adventure epic.
In Captain Marvel (2019), Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Brie Larson plays Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel and Jude Law is Walter Lawson / Mar-Vell. Samuel L. Jackson, a classic in these sort of films, incarnates Nick Fury once again. With them, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Annette Bening, Colin Ford, Clark Gregg, Chuku Modu, Robert Kazinsky and Rune Temte complete the main cast.
