Unfriended: Dark Web (2018), the sequel for that small horror flick which surprisely was a huge success called Unfriended (2014), is coming out in the USA this month, the 20th of July. In the UK and Australia they will have to wait until August to see the movie hiting theaters, and the rest of the world still have the release dates yet to be announced. So with its inminent release, the people from Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures are in the quest of promoting the film and the first official clip of the movie has been released this week.
Unfriended: Dark Web (2018),that already had its worldwide premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival this spring, tells the story about a teen who comes into possession of a new laptop and finds that it may have been stolen. He discovers the previous owner may be watching every move he makes and will do anything to get it back.
Stephen Susco, author of the screenplays of The Grudge (2004), The Grudge 2 (2006) and Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013), debuts behind the cameras with this film. Betty Gabriel, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Stephanie Nogueras, Colin Woodell, Andrew Lees, Douglas Tait and Savira Windyani star.
Unfriended (2014) was a milestone for Blumhouse. A modest production with an estimated budget of only one million dollars which managed to gross over sixty times its investment worldwide and even achieved number one in American box offices. Will the sequel be such a success again? Well, soon we’ll know.
