First trailer for science-fiction mystery "Ad Astra" starring Brad Pitt

It was time ago that Brad Pitt stated that he would retire from acting when he turned 50 years old to focus more on his family and his role as a movie producer, a task that he has been developing for the last decades. Luckily for all of us, he has not accomplished that desire, although he has decreased the number of works in front of the camera in the last years. Still, this year he is starring in one of the most awaited movies of the season, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), and also the mystery and science-fiction flick Ad Astra (2019), whose first trailer has just been released.

Ad Astra (2019) has been co-written and directed by James Gray, responsible for interesting thrillers like Little Odessa (1994), The Yards (2000) or We Own the Night (2007). He first announced he was working on the movie on May 12, 2016, during the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Principal photography on the film began in mid-August 2017 in Santa Clarita, California.

The movie centers astronaut Roy McBride, incarnated by Brad Pitt, who travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos. Besides Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones playing the character’s lost father, Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland, Ruth Negga, Jamie Kennedy, Ravi Kapoor, John Ortiz, Greg Bryk, Kimberly Elise, Loren Dean, John Finn, LisaGay Hamilton, Alyson Reed and Anne McDaniels also star.

Ad Astra (2019) is produced by 20th Century Fox, Regency Enterprises and Plan B Entertainment, and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios. It is set to come out in theaters next September. Watch the first trailer here:
