No, no, don’t get over-excited here. We are not talking about Nicolas Cage against alien Predators coming in space ships to our planet for some human-hunting sport. Although, let’s be honest, the idea really sounds yummilicious. But this time we have to conform with our favorite star dealing with terrestrial threats.
In Primal (2019), Nicolas Cage is a big-game hunter for zoos who has booked passage on a Greek shipping freighter with a fresh haul of exotic and deadly animals from the Amazon, including a rare white Jaguar, along with a political assassin being extradited to the U.S in secret. Two days into the journey, the assassin escapes and releases the captive animals, throwing the ship into chaos.
The movie has been written by Richard Leder, writer of numerous TV movies of all sorts, including The Suspect (2006). Nick Powell, an experienced stunts artist with jobs in a good handful of popular films including Batman (1989), Nightbreed (1990), Judge Dredd (1995), GoldenEye (1995), The Mummy (1999), 28 Days Later… (2002), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), has been set to direct. Primal (2019) is his second feature film as director after debuting with Outcast (2014), another Nicolas Cage action flick.
Together with Nicolas Cage, Famke Janssen, Kevin Durand, Michael Imperioli, LaMonica Garrett, Rey Hernandez, Tommy Walker, John Lewis, and Sewell Whitney also star.
Production of Primal (2019) had to be postponed due to the Puerto Rico hurricane hitting the area in 2017, but now it is ready for Lionsgate to release it. It is expected to come out November 8th in the USA, and later it will see the light in other territories. Here you can watch the official trailer for Primal (2019).
