The exorcisms horror subgenre is one of the most exploited ones in this last decade, as it happened with the zombie flicks a few years ago, and the vampire tales before that, to the point that one is starting to lose interest in whatever demons might have in mind in order to get into the bodies of young girls and do their mischieving acts. Still, every now and then, a new movie pops up and catches the attention as a possible interesting title to add to your watch list. And El Exorcismo de Carmen Farías (easily translated to English as The Exorcism of Carmen Farías from original Spanish language) has the potential to be one of them.

After directing a few short films, El Exorcismo de Carmen Farías is the debut as a director from Rodrigo Fiallega, who is an accomplished digital effects artist and has been taking part in notorious productions such as Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), Olympus Has Fallen (2013), The Expendables 3 (2014) Department Q: The Absent One (2014) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016). The screenplay has been written by Molo Alcocer Délano, who is also the producer of the film.

One of the main attractions in El Exorcismo de Carmen Farías is the main protagonist of the show. The movie is starred by Camila Sodi, a celebrity, singer and soap opera actress very popular in the Mexican scene. Together with her, Juan Pablo Castañeda, Juan Carlos Colombo, and Lucy Paez also star.

El Exorcismo de Carmen Farías centers a brave journalist with her own personal dramas who discovers soon after her mother’s death that she has inherited her grandmother’s house. She decides to move there without knowing it hides dark secrets.

The movie is pending to get official theatrical release dates due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but it’s expected to come out the second half of this year 2020. You can watch its first official trailer in original Spanish version here:
