First trailer for Karyn Kusama's new movie "Destroyer"

Being one of the most acclaimed female filmmakers of the genres of horror and science fiction thanks to her titles The Invitation (2015), Jennifer’s Body (2009), Æon Flux (2005) and the segment “Her Only Living Son” in the celebrated anthology XX (2017), any new project signed by Karyn Kusama is good news. This time her new upcoming movie is action thriller Destroyer (2018).

Destroyer (2018) follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.

The screenplay was penned by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, habitual writers of Karyn Kusama’s movies. Nicole Kidman, who plays the lead role of the detective, is accompanied by Toby Kebbell, Tatiana Maslany, Sebastian Stan, Scoot McNairy, Bradley Whitford, Toby Huss, James Jordan, Beau Knapp and Jade Pettyjohn. The movie premiered at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) this September and has been part of the line-up of festivals like Fantastic Fest, Vancouver International Film Festival, London Film Festival and Denver International Film Festival just to name a few, where it has achieved several Best Movie nominations.

Annapurna Pictures, who has the distribution rights for Destroyer (2018), has recently published its first official trailer which can be watched here:
