After his critically acclaimed and audience favorite titles Crazy Heart (2009), Out of the Furnace (2013), Black Mass (2015) and Hostiles (2017), producer, writer, actor, and director Scott Cooper has critically himself in his first horror and mystery oriented film. The movie is called Antlers (2020) and it centers a small-town teacher and her brother, the local sheriff, who become entwined with a young student harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.
The movie is based in the short story The Quiet Boy written by Nick Antosca, writer of the horror thriller The Cottage (2012) and some episodes of TV series Teen Wolf (2011–2017), Last Resort (2012–2013), Believe (2014) and Hannibal (2013–2015), as well as being the creator of SyFy horror and fantasy series Channel Zero (2016–2018). He has also written the screenplay of Antlers together with the director Scott Cooper and C. Henry Chaisson.
In July 2018, it was announced that Guillermo del Toro would produce the film. Principal photography began on October 1, 2018, and finished on November 30, 2018. Antlers (2020) is scheduled to be released on April 17, 2020, by Fox Searchlight Pictures. Here you can watch the final trailer for the movie:
