Called to be one of the top horror movies of the year, A Quiet Place (2018) finally arrives in theaters this month. Following the good reviews achieved at the past South by Southwest Film Festival, this small drama horror flick co-written, directed and starred by John Krasinski, based on a story by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, it is expected to bring pure dread and agony.
The plot follows a family of four who must live life in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound after an unknown attack in the state of New York. A Quiet Place (2018) stars John Krasinski as Lee Abbott, the patriarch of the family, a man who would stop at nothing in order to keep his kin safe. Krasinski might be more popular for his comedy side, overall after having starred the popular TV comedy The Office (2005-2013). Emily Blunt plays Evelyn Abbott, the mother in the family, pregnant with their fourth child at the start of the film. Blunt is one of the well recognizable faces in Hollywood thanks to her roles in blockbusters like The Girl on the Train (2016), Sicario (2015), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), The Adjustment Bureau (2011) and The Wolfman (2010). The main cast is complete with young actors, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, playing the offsprings of the Abbott’s, two children that have lived all their existence in an environment of post-apocalyptic fear and a total absence of sound.
After the real-life couple formed by lead actors Emily Blunt and John Krasinski got the early drafts of the script in their hands, had having their second child at the time, this project has been raised as a quite personal one. The film has been called one of the best and most scary horror films of the year, together with the also big expected Hereditary (2018).
A Quiet Place (2018) opens this weekend almost everywhere, but other countries like Germany and Netherlands, opening the 12th of April, Spain the 20th of April and France the 20th of June will have to wait for a little bit longer. Find here the final trailer for the movie:
