Fede Álvarez's remake of Millenium's "The Girl in the Spider's Web" first trailer is already out

Lisbeth Salander is back. And after being played in the original Swedish novel adaptation trilogy by Noomi Rapace and in David Fincher’s first remake The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) by Rooney Mara, now its the time or Claire Foy to be in the skin of the badass underground and vengeful vigilante. Not an easy quest, since previous actresses did a more than astonishing job!

In the first trailer of The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018) we can see how Lisbeth Salander is still using her classic and sordid tricks in order to imprint revenge against the men in power who bend the law as they please. A clip full of rage and outlaw justice. This time, Salander will have to deal with her past, as her and her journalist ally Mikael Blomkvist find themselves caught in a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt government officials.

Together with Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander and Sverrir Gudnason as Mikael Blomkvist, Sylvia Hoeks, Lakeith Stanfield, Stephen Merchant, Vicky Krieps, Synnøve Macody Lund, Cameron Britton and Andreja Pejic also star. This time, Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez, known for being in charge of Don’t Breathe (2016) and his personal Evil Dead (2013) remake is the chosen one to direct the film. The screenplay has been penned by Steven Knight, Jay Basu and director Fede Alvarez, always based on the popular characters created by Stieg Larsson’s Millenium book series.

The filming of The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018) took place earlier this year in Stockholm, Sweden and Berlin, Germany. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sony Pictures Entertainment are the main companies behind the production. The theatrical release is expected for the last week of October in countries like Spain, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, while other territories like UK, USA or Australia will have to wait for one more week. In Germany and Italy it is expected to hit theaters the last weekend of November.
