Non mi uccidere (2021) is an Italian romance, fantasy, and horror movie adapting the gothic horror novel of the same name written by Chiara Palazzolo and published in Italy in 2005 by Piemme Edizioni. The novel was a popular hit amongst the young adults in its country, and it was often compared to the popular international saga of books and films of the Twilight series.
Translated into English as Don’t Kill Me, the plot for the movie adaptation follows the events happening in the book. 19-year-old Mirta dies of a drug overdose with her lover Robin. She then resuscitates alone and finds out that, in order to keep living, she must eat living humans.
The movie adaptation for Non mi uccidere (2021) has been directed by Andrea De Sica, known for the awards-winner drama-thriller Children of the Night (2016). He has been also co-writer of the screenplay, together with Gianni Romoli, winner of several scriptwriting awards including the adaptation for popular horror cult-classic Dellamorte Dellamore (1994).
The main cast for the movie is formed by Alice Pagani, Rocco Fasano, Silvia Calderoni, Fabrizio Ferracane, Sergio Albelli, Giacomo Ferrara, and Anita Caprioli.
After a theatrical release on April 21, 2021, and an Italian TV premiere on October 27, 2021, now Netflix is releasing the movie internationally on February 21, 2022.
