Meeting for the first time the parents and family of your girlfriend or boyfriend is always a scary situation. Especially if you are in an interracial relationship. And even more especially if the family lives abroad and the social introduction involves staying for a while at the parents’ place far far away from home, with nowhere to hide or no one (besides your lover) to lean on. Oh, I bet you already have the creeps. I also do only by writing these lines. But if this already frightening picture gets added horrific supernatural deadly events, we have in hands a true fear bomb!
These are the premises for Get Out (2017), one of the most interesting titles in the mystery and horror fields of the season. Debut work of comedian actor and screenwriter Jordan Peele, this film introduces the audience in a regular family situation where strange events happen. Very in the arts of M. Night Shyamalan. The movie is starred by Daniel Kaluuya, Bradley Whitford, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, Betty Gabriel, Caleb Landry Jones, Lyle Brocato, Ashley LeConte Campbell, Marcus Henderson and LilRel Howery among others.
Get Out (2017) had its world wide premier this January at the Sundance Film Festival, and one moth afterwards hit theatres in the USA and Canada, where it grossed more than 20 times its original budget. Indeed, a huge success for a modest production. In Europe the waiting comes to an end soon, this next weekend the movie comes out in some countries like UK or Ireland. The release in Netherlands or Sweden will happen in mid April. And Germany will have to wait until the 4th of May to have the movie in theatres. Anyhow, you can already watch here the official trailer for the film, as well as a little gallery of posters. Enjoy!
