In Beneath the Green (2022), a wayward astronaut finds himself trapped inside the collective consciousness of a planet that seeks to teach us how to conquer our past to move forward with the present.
Six lost astronauts search for a way out of a planet that should be dead. Caleb, the group’s newcomer, wakes up on the forested planet Anthemusus with no memory of how or why he landed on a planet that was covered in dry sand until his arrival. He encounters a group of settlers, led by Hunter, who also know no way to escape. Even worse is the disappearance of their mission commander, Victor, who appears to the team in the form of a floating head that speaks in cryptic riddles and sentences. Believing that Victor has found a way out, the team sets out to find him.
This is the debut fiction feature film of writer and director Jason Georgiades who was the winner of the Jury Prize at the Berlin Sci-fi Filmfest for his science-fiction short film Through Fire She Calls (2017). He has also been behind the rock documentary Desert Age: A Rock and Roll Scene History (2016) about the California desert rock and roll scene from the early 1980s and 1990s. Chet Vincent is the co-writer of the screenplay.
The main attraction in the cast of Beneath the Green (2022) is the always-present Eric Roberts. Jay Eftimoski, Anthony Nikolchev, Garland Scott, Anna Talakkottur, and Veronica Wylie complete the international cast.
The movie is coming out on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, VUDU, and Apple TV on January 27, 2023.
