At the end the rumors became true and Matt Reeves is finally in charge to direct The Batman. After Ben Affleck finally made public that finally he stepped out of the director position, many names poped up as possible replacements. One of the names that sounded louder was Cloverfield (2008) and Let Me In (2010) remake director, and finally he’s been confirmed as the chosen one. That means the script Ben Affleck wrote when he was suposed to also take the directors chair is now going to be revised and rewritten.
Together with Justice League (2017), scheduled to come out this year, The Batman is the biggest bet for Warner Bros. in the DC Comics universe. The confirmed stars for this new installment are Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Joe Manganiello as Slade Wilson / Deathstroke and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth. And it’s to expect many more big names will join the party.
Director Matt Reeves will take control of The Batman machinery as soon as hi finishes post-production of his latest film War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), scheduled to hit theatres this summer. This is the follow up of his very acclaimed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).
So this ensure us a great dose of DC Comics adaptations for the big screen, since to The Batman and Justice League (2017) we must add Wonder Woman (2017), Aquaman (2018), and The Flash (2018). Oh, and more nonsense with Suicide Squad 2 (2019), if we didn’t have enough with the first film, undoubtedly one of the worst titles last year. So I guess the super heroes binge is still in its path. What about enough?
