Pascal Laugier wrote and directed almost 10 years ago one of the most intense and mindfuck movies I have ever seen, the forever beloved Martyrs (2008). His only feature film since then was the disappointing The Tall Man (2012). But now he is back with another movie that can make us horror fans be rubbing our hands in glee.
Incident in a Ghost Land (2017), which is also written by Pascal Laugier himself, is been currently filming. In it, a mother of two daughters inherits a house from her Aunt. Beth is the shy one, very introspective and always fantasizing about her own stories, while her sister Vera is the outgoing and self-confident one. On the first night in the new home, the family confronts with murderous intruders and the mother fights for her daughters lives. Sixteen years later the daughters reunite at the house. Beth is now a successful horror writer and has an idyllic life in Chicago. While on the other hand, Vera’s life has been drifting and she is in a constant estate of paranoia. The mother and the daughters get together after a long time, and that is when things get strange.
The movie is starred by Crystal Reed, Anastasia Phillips, Mylène Farmer, Taylor Hickson, Emilia Jones, Rob Archer, Suzanne Pringle, Adam Hurtig, Alicia Johnston, Ernesto Griffith, Erik Athavale, Kevin Power, Paul Titley and Terry Ray. Regarding the few photos that are being shared by the working team of the film, it seems it is going to have an intense and dark tone. That is exactly what we the fans are expecting! Personally, I have high hopes that this movie would be one of the hits of next year.
