Before his forced retirement due to health problems, Bruce Willis walked in the shoes of Detective James Knight in the action thrillers Detective Knight: Rogue (2022) and Detective Knight: Redemption (2022). Detective Knight: Independence (2023) marks the third (and most likely final) entry in the saga.
This time, Detective James Knight’s last-minute assignment to the Independence Day shift turns into a race to stop an unbalanced ambulance EMT from imperiling the city’s festivities. The misguided vigilante, playing a cop with a stolen gun and uniform, has a bank vault full of reasons to put on his own fireworks show, one that will strike dangerously close to Knight’s home.
As with the rest of the films in the saga, Detective Knight: Independence (2023) has been directed by Edward Drake who is also the writer of the screenplay together with Corey Large. The pair has also been responsible for some of the latest Bruce Willis action films Cosmic Sin (2021), Apex (2021), American Siege (2021), and Gasoline Alley (2022).
Alongside Bruce Willis, the cast in Detective Knight: Independence (2023) also includes Jack Kilmer, Dina Meyer, Lochlyn Munro, Willow Shields, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Lorenzo Antonucci, Robert Laenen, and Dax Campbell.
Detective Knight: Independence (2023) is Rated R for violence, language throughout, brief drug use, and sexuality.
The movie is set to be released by Lionsgate Films in limited theaters and VOD on January 20, 2023, followed by its release on DVD and Blu-ray on February 28, 2023. Watch its official trailer here.
