Rhoda Griffis in The Dark Red (2018)

The Dark Red (2018) is a horror-thriller about a young woman who is committed to a psychiatric hospital and claims her newborn was stolen by a secret society to harvest its supernatural blood. The movie has been produced by Psychopia Pictures, an independent film and commercial production company established by Dan Bush.

Dan Bush is also the director of The Dark Red (2018). He is known for his horror and science-fiction oriented titles The Signal (2007), The Reconstruction of William Zero (2014) and The Vault (2017). He has also been the author of the screenplay for the film together with his frequent collaborator Conal Byrne.

In The Dark Red (2018), Sybil is being held against her will in a psychiatric ward because her claims are extreme. She says her newborn baby was kidnapped by a secret society to harvest its supernatural blood. She says the ancient bloodline has great powers – it lets you hear other people’s thoughts. And she begs the doctors to let her go so she can rescue her child from the cult’s dungeons. Is she telling the truth, or is it just mere delusion?

April Billingsley, Kelsey Scott, Conal Byrne, Rhoda Griffis, John Curran, Jill Jane Clements, and Bernard Setaro Clark are the stars of the film. The Dark Red (2018) premiered at the Austin Film Festival last year where it got a positive welcoming. Now it is scheduled for a Video on Demand and limited theatrical release via Dark Sky Films on March 6, 2020. Here you can watch the official trailer for the film.
