Corin Hardy to direct "The Nun", the next The Conjuring spin-off

James Wan’s horror film The Conjuring (2013) is turning into a little gold mine. Not only because of its, for the moment, only sequel (The Conjuring 2 (2016) is clearly one of the most interesting horror films of last year), but also for the spin-off productions from some of its sub-stories. When soon we have Annabelle 2 (2017) hitting theatres, recently it was announce that another offspring is on the works. This is the case of The Nun, based in a creepy character appearing in The Conjuring 2 (2016).

The script is written by James Wan himself together with Gary Dauberman, who also was responsable of the texts for Annabelle (2014), Annabelle 2 (2017) and the remake for It (2017), among others. While the plot is still unknown, it will cleary be based on the character of The Nun, the demon nun. Today Deadline officially reported that Corin Hardy will be in charge of directing the film, after his current project, the remake for The Crow starring Jason Momoa has to be on hold since the departure of Relativity Studios from the plan.

After an extense career in short films and music videos, Corin Hardy’s only film until date is the horror title The Hallow (2015). If had a little recognition in some genre festivals a couple of years ago, so this The Nun project totally marks the big break chance for the young filmmaker.

So far we don’t have any updates about cast members for The Nun. But it is expected that Bonnie Aarons would reprise the title role as she performed it in The Conjuring 2 (2016). Probably we will be hearing more confirmations in the following days.
