The key character for the fourth entry in the Millenium franchise already has a name. British TV actress Claire Foy has been the chosen one to play outcast investigator Lisbeth Salander, after a list of rumored names which even included Alicia Vikander. This new sequel, entitled The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018), will be directed and has been co-written by Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Álvarez, known for being responsible for Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe (2016).

In this fourth installment of the saga, underground magazine Millenium has changed owners and the new managers sentence that journalist Mikael Blomkvist is out of date. Trying to get back his prestige as a fighter investigator, Blomkvist follows the trail of a professor who claims to have private information for the American secret services, he joins forces with hacker outlaw Lisbeth Salander in order to survive in the nest of espionage, crime and corrupt politicians they fall in once again.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018) in the homonym book published in 2015 by David Lagercrantz, since the original creator of the series Stieg Larsson died in 2004. Together with Fede Álvarez, the screenplay is the work of Jay Basu, writer of Monsters: Dark Continent (2014), and Steven Knight, Oscar-nominated for the text of crime thriller Dirty Pretty Things (2002).

The movie is expected to hit theatres worldwide in early October 2018. David Fincher, the director of the latest Millenium adaptation to date, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, will take the position of executive producer.

Before getting into the pale and tattooed skin of Lisbeth Salander, we will be able to see Claire Foy in the new Steven Soderbergh movie Unsane (2018), a horror drama also starred by Juno Temple and Aimee Mullins.
