Sometimes hated, but most of the time loved. Christopher Nolan has become one of the biggest names in the current panorama when it comes to thriller and science-fiction movies, with a very personal and innovative twisted mind that has delivered what probably is the best superheroes movie ever made, The Dark Knight (2008), crazy and intriguing plots like in his debut film Following (1998) and his break-thru Memento (2000), and mind-blowing science fiction titles like Inception (2010) and Interstellar (2014). For his upcoming new movie Tenet (2020), he chose to go back to a genre that he masters, and it promises to be one of the action thrillers of 2020.
To increase the hype and mystery surrounding Tenet (2020), and although the movie is already in post-production, the plot is still unknown. The project is described as an action epic revolving around international espionage, time travel, and evolution. The secrecy has been so intense that even the main stars of the film stated that they were only allowed to read the script once, in a locked room at Warner Bros. Studios.
Tenet (2020) is starred by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Robert Pattinson, Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth Debicki, Clémence Poésy, Himesh Patel, Andrew Howard, John David Washington, Yuri Kolokolnikov, Martin Donovan, Dimple Kapadia and Michael Caine, which marks his eighth participation in a film directed by Christopher Nolan, including a voice cameo in Dunkirk (2017).
Writer and director Christopher Nolan has been interviewed recently by Entertainment Weekly, where he has shared some hints about what is to find in Tenet (2020). He stated “we’re jumping off from the point of view of an espionage film, but we’re going to a number of different places. We’re crossing a few different genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way”. Nolan describes the film as being his “biggest in terms of international reach”, and goes even beyond admitting that “there’s no question, it’s the most ambitious film we’ve made”. He also gives details of what is to find in the movie, sharing that John David Washington is “very much the hero” of the story. “He’s an athlete and pretty hard for anybody to keep up with, including the different vehicles we shot him from — cars and helicopters. This guy moves”.
Tenet (2020) is expected to be released worldwide the weekend of the 17th of July, 2020. Here you can find its first official trailer:
