Freaks (2018) is a science-fiction thriller film directed, written, and produced by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. This is not the first time the duo have worked together since they met as contestants on the reality show for emerging filmmakers On the Lot (2007). After that, they directed some episodes and also are responsible for Disney family-friendly adventures and science-fiction TV series Mech-X4 (2016– ) and the TV movie Kim Possible (2019).
In the genre-bending psychological sci-fi thriller Freaks (2018), a bold girl discovers a bizarre, threatening, and mysterious new world beyond her front door after she escapes her father’s protective and paranoid control. Little Chloe has always lived under the care of her father, obsessed with protecting her from the dangers of the outside world, to the point that he doesn’t allow her to leave the house. One day, the girl sneaks out, finding a world that she had only been able to imagine until then. The already bizarre reality will blend with fantasy through the childish eyes of the film’s young heroine.
