Some films are destinated to not have much good luck. If we think the offer of new horror movies out there is too wide for us be able to check them all up, just imagine the amount that get stuck in oblivion. Scrawl (2015) could have been one of those forgotten forever films, even having the honor of being Daisy Ridley debut film, produced back in 2015, the same year where the role of Rey, the star in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015) landed on her shoulders.
Scrawl (2015) tells the story of a 16-year-old boy living in a rundown seaside town who writes a comic book with his best friend, only to find the situations depicted in the comic book coming to life. They used the fantasy of the comic, called Scrawl, as a way to escape their reality, gain some notoriety and more importantly pick up girls. Along with the appearance of a mysterious girl, the boy is forced to face the reality of what he has written, and begins a battle to attempt to rewrite death, when the monsters of the comic book begin to show themselves, and the boys realize that the comic depicts a bloody great massacre at page 21.
Peter Hearn, creator of the fantasy adventures flick Cross-Eyed Waltz (2005), has been the writer and director of Scrawl (2015). Together with Daisy Ridley, Mark Forester Evans, Liam Hughes, Joe Daly, Annabelle Le Gresley, Nathalie Pownall, Elizabeth Boag, Chris Casey, Ellie Selwood, Morag Sims and Catherine Ruddick also star.
Despite the festivals run Scrawl (2015) had back in 2015, including Fright Night Film Festival, Zed Fest Film Festival or Macabre Faire Film Festival, where the movie achieved several, it was still unreleased until now. Since this month, the movie can be found on the iTunes catalog. As part of the promotion of the film, the official trailer has been now released and you can watch it here:
