Canadian SciFi thriller "Simulant" exposes the dangers of humanoid A.I.

With all the controversy nowadays with ChatGPT and other A.I. tools that simulate human crafts, shit is going to get more tricky when robotics and prosthetics reach the level where man-made technology can replicate machines to an almost identical form as real human beings. The future exposed in fiction pieces like Ex Machina (2014) and Blade Runner (1982) is closer than we thought.

In the science-fiction thriller Simulant (2023), a humanoid A.I. who attempts to win over a widow’s heart places it in the path of a government agent trying to stop the rise of machine consciousness.

April Mullen, a filmmaker with a wide experience in the thriller and action genres responsible for titles like Dead Before Dawn 3D (2012), 88 (2015), Farhope Tower (2015), and Badsville (2017), is the director of Simulant (2023) from a screenplay written by Ryan Christopher Churchill.

Robbie Amell, Jordana Brewster, Simu Liu, Sam Worthington, Alicia Sanz, Mayko Nguyen, Masa Lizdek, Christine L. Nguyen, Emmanuel Kabongo, and Samantha Helt form the main cast.

Simulant (2023) is premiering in Canadian theaters on April 7, 2023, and it will also get a release in several European countries during the month. On May 5, 2023, it will have a digital release. Watch its official trailer here.
