Bruce Willis was, without a doubt, one of the biggest action movie stars of the last decades. His undebatable success comes in hand with the character of John McClane in the Die Hard saga, but he was also one of the leads in essential movies like The Last Boy Scout (1991), Pulp Fiction (1994), The Fifth Element (1997), The Sixth Sense (1999), Unbreakable (2000), Sin City (2005), Planet Terror (2007), or Looper (2012). And although for the last decade he has mainly been taking part in direct-to-video titles of doubtful quality, his forced retirement was horrible news from the film industry due to his aphasia disease.
The crime action thriller with a science-fiction background Assassin (2023) is probably the final Bruce Willis film.
In the movie, a man dies as part of an experimental military program. A former black-ops soldier takes his place to find who killed him. When revolutionary, experimental human drone tech falls into enemy hands, it’s up to the leader of an elite C.I.A. group and his team to draft a black-ops soldier into service to retrieve the weapons system at any cost.
Alongside Bruce Willis, Nomzamo Mbatha, Andy Allo, Dominic Purcell, Eugenia Kuzmina, Mustafa Shakir, Fernanda Andrade, and Dustin Quick also star.
Assassin (2023) has been directed by the debutant Jesse Atlas, an awards-winner filmmaker with his short films Record/Play (2012) and Let Them Die Like Lovers (2017). He has been the co-writer of the screenplay together with Aaron Wolfe.
After its digital release on March 31, 2023, Assassin (2023) is coming out on DVD on April 3, 2023. The movie is Rated R for violence and language.
