Filmmaker S. Craig Zahler is better known for his debut film, the essential Bone Tomahawk (2015), which he wrote, directed and created the music for. Now his second movie is about to come out, and it’s entitled Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017). This new movie is starred by a shocking Vince Vaughn, far away from the looks we have been used to see him on. With him, Jennifer Carpenter, Don Johnson, Marc Blucas, Tom Guiry and Udo Kier complete the main cast.
Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017) tells the story of a former boxer named Bradley Thomas, who loses his job as an auto mechanic as his troubled marriage is about to expire. At a crossroads in his life, he feels that he has no better option than to work for an old buddy as a drug courier. This choice improves his situation until the day that he finds himself in a gunfight between a group of police officers and his own ruthless allies. When the smoke clears, Thomas is badly hurt and thrown in prison, where his enemies force him to commit acts of violence that turn the place into a savage battleground.
The movie will premiere in several first class festivals this summer, such as Fantastic Fest, Venice Film Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival before it can have a limited theatrical release the 6th of October and Video on Demand the 13th of October.
