"Blade Runner 2049" prolog introduced by the movie director Denis Villeneuve is out

As Ridley Scott did when the release date for his latest film Alien: Covenant (2017) was getting closer, is happening also with Blade Runner 2049 (2017). This time Ridley Scott is not directing the film, only producing it, but apparently, his shadow of power is still strong. As he did with Alien: Covenant – Prologue: Last Supper (2017), Scott’s son Luke Scott has been in charge of direct this short film plus interview that serves as a link between what happened in the events of the original movie Blade Runner (1982) and its sequel Blade Runner 2049 (2017).

In Blade Runner 2049 (2017), thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

The movie’s director Denis Villeneuve introduces the little piece, with a total running time of 6 minutes and a half, including the interview. The short film, Nexus: 2036 (2017), takes place in the year 2036 and revolves around Jared Leto’s character, Niander Wallace. He introduces a new line of “perfected” replicants called the Nexus 9, seeking to get the prohibition on replicants repealed. The project is refused by the committee, but Wallace has different plans.

Collider premiered the short film on their official Youtube channel. And here you can watch it for free:
