When two veterans in horror movies like Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator (1985), From Beyond (1986), You’re Next (2011)) and Larry Fessenden (Habit (1995), The House of the Devil (2009), Stake Land (2010)) are together in a movie, all you can do is to pay full attention. And, especially, if it is a promising title as Jakob’s Wife (2021) is.

The movie centers on Anne, married to a small-town Minister, who feels her life has been shrinking over the past 30 years. Encountering “The Master” brings her a new sense of power and an appetite to live bolder. However, the change comes with a heavy body count.

The movie is written and produced by Travis Stevens, known for drama and mystery Girl on the Third Floor (2019). He has been also the writer of the screenplay together with Kathy Charles (Castle Freak (2020)) and Mark Steensland (The Special (2020)).

Together with Barbara Crampton and Larry Fessenden, Bonnie Aarons, Nyisha Bell, Sarah Lind, Mark Kelly, Robert Rusler, Jay DeVon Johnson, Angelie Simone, Ned Yousef, Giovannie Cruz, and C.M. Punk also star.

In addition to playing the titular character, Barbara Crampton is also one of the film’s producers, having spent years shepherding the script to the screen. She said, “I read it and I was immediately captivated. I hooked up with Bob Portal at Alliance Media Partners and it took many years for us to develop the project and put it together“.

Jakob’s Wife (2021) had its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 17, 2021, where it got a very positive reception. It is scheduled for a release on April 16, 2021. Here you can watch its new trailer.
