American Night (2021) is a movie that follows the trail of classic action thrillers, with a set of charismatic characters, many cultural references, and lots of art.

This neo-noir is set in the New York City’s corrupt contemporary art world where the art dealer John Kaplan and the ruthless head of New York’s mafia, Michael Rubino, fight for money, art, power, and love.

Alessio Della Valle, an awards-winner filmmaker with a wide experience in short films and documentaries, has written and directed American Night (2021). This is not the first time he works on themes related to art since his previous film was the documentary Napoleon Returns to Galleria Borghese (2012) centering on the world of art museums.

The main cast for American Night (2021) includes a lot of familiar faces like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emile Hirsch, Michael Madsen, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Paz Vega, Jeremy Piven, Mara Lane, Marco Leonardi, references to Andy Warhol, and the appearance of popular singer Anastacia.

The movie is Rated R for violence, sexual content, nudity, and language throughout. Following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 9, 2021, American Night (2021) had a theatrical release in the USA and is expected to come out on digital in several countries this October.
