Undoubtfully, Hereditary (2018) [read our review here] is becoming one of the main horror titles of the year. With a modest budget of $10 million not only has become the most successful movie distributed by independent A24, but is very close to reaching a worldwide grossing of 70 million dollars. Like this, nobody would be surprised its writer and director Ari Aster has found this fast the budget to finance his next project, expected to come out the next year 2019.
This next movie, entitled Midsommer (2019) and also written by Aster tells the story of a young woman with the decease of her parents still very close in time and feelings who reluctantly joins her boyfriend and friends ton a summer trip to Sweden. Their idyllic vacations in that little town, with their peculiar traditions and people, will soon turn into a series of twisted situations which will make their perfect and therapeutic vacations into a living hell.
Midsommer (2019) started filming this week with a cast formed by Will Poulter, Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia, Archie Madekwe and Vilhelm Blomgren. Independent banners B Reel and Parts and Labor are producing, and A24 is set to distribute again.
