After the frantic and astonishing Baby Driver (2017), English filmmaker Edgar Wright won’t wait much time to work on his next project. His plot unknown”psychological horror thriller set in London with a female lead” new movie is currently in pre-production and it has the name Last Night In Soho (2020).
The movie is also written by director Edgar Wright together with Krysty Wilson-Cairns. It is reportedly slightly inspired by classic horror movie Don’t Look Now (1973) and Repulsion (1965), which add more appeal to the scheme. And, so far, the only cast member who has been announced is Anya Taylor-Joy, perhaps the most interesting actresses of her generation thanks to her roles in The Witch (2015), Split (2016), Morgan (2016), Thoroughbreds (2017) and The Secret of Marrowbone (2017).
Last Night In Soho (2020) will mark the first horror movie by Edgar Wright that is not swimming in the terrains of comedy, after the instant classic Shaun of the Dead (2004). It is hard to believe how far in time is getting his cult Cornetto Trilogy films, that were completed with Hot Fuzz (2007) and The World’s End (2013). But they are nothing but evidence that filmmaker Edgar Wright is one of those movie authors with a very personal style and a great talent to explain any sort of story of any genre in his own way.
Filming for Last Night In Soho (2020) is scheduled to begin this summer in London, England and the movie won’t see the light until the next year 2020.
