Since she starred as Selina/Catwoman in the third title of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Anne Hathaway has been seen in two of the most interesting science fiction titles of the last years, Interstellar (2014) and Colossal (2016). For an actress that is more related to soft comedy and drama, that shows some kind of love for the sci-fi genre. That’s why nobody should be surprised when she was reported to be signed to star the independent science fiction thriller O2.
O2 is written by debutant Christie LeBlanc and is going to be produced by Echo Lake and IM Global. The movie shows how a woman wakes up inside a cryogenic chamber with no memory of how she got there while the air in the chamber begins slowly running out. People involved in the project has described the story as some kind of a mix between Gravity (2013) and Buried (2010), being closer to the science fiction side than the thriller.
The producers are still looking for a director and to complete the cast, so pre-production hasn’t started yet. Allegedly, the movie has a budget of 10 million dollars and could be expected to have a release date sometime in 2018.
