Grief is a powerful force. It can knock you out and let you do nothing at all, turning you into some kind of flesh piece of furniture, or it can make you do very strange things, some of them easily are considered mistakes. Because the loss of someone close is a tragedy we are never ready for, so many stories, songs, and all kinds of pieces of art have been written around the concept for centuries. But let’s not get too intense and focus on this little horror tale entitled An Unquiet Grave (2020).
In the movie, a year after losing his wife in a car crash, Jamie convinces her sister, Ava, to return with him to the site of the accident and help him perform a strange ritual. But as the night wears on, it becomes clear that he has darker intentions.
This is the debut feature film of Terence Krey after a few short films and the fantasy-comedy series Graves (2016– ). He is also co-writer of the screenplay together with Christine Nyland, who is also the star in An Unquiet Grave (2020). Jacob A. Ware also stars.
An Unquiet Grave (2020) has been labeled as “an exploration of grief and the harm we cause when we don’t take responsibility for our own healing”. The movie was part of several film festivals along 2020 including the FANtastic Horror Film Festival in San Diego where it was nominated for Best Feature Film, Best Actor, and Best Actress. On June 24 it comes out on digital. Watch here its official trailer.
