The headline in action-thriller Overrun (2021) reads “Frame him. Hunt him. Good luck stopping him”. Well, that is a good definition of what we might see on the screen, and surely makes clear this is going to be the kind of non-stopping action flick where fights, explosions, and a long trail of dead bodies are about to happen. John Wick started the hype, so now were are getting the emulators.
Overrun (2021) is centered on former military extraction specialist Marcus Lombardi, whose only chance of saving his informant sister and their family is to track down a mysterious briefcase.
As happened with John Wick (2014), Overrun (2021) is also the debut feature film of an experience stunts artist and coordinator. Josh Tessier, the director, has taken part in titles like Tekken (2010), Jonah Hex (2010), Argo (2012), or 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) before stepping behind the camera. The screenplay has been written by Roberto Ahumada and Victoria González based on a first draft by Craig R. Key.
The star of the film is the Iranian actor and stunts artist Omid Zader. Together with him, Johnny Messner, William Katt, Robert Miano, Chris Tallman, Jack Griffo, Haley Strode, Nicholas Turturro, Chelsey Goldsmith, and veteran actor Bruce Dern also star.
Overrun (2021) is scheduled for a digital and Blu-Ray/DVD release on August 17, 2021. Here you can watch its trailer.
