An evil force controls people to commit crimes and self-damage in "The Puppetman"

Shudder is releasing in October the horror film The Puppetman (2023). With the catch line “Evil pulls the strings and he’s chosen who’s next”, a group of teenagers will face a demonic force that mysteriously controls their bodies and make them perpetrate horrifying actions.

In the movie, The Puppetman is a convicted killer on death row who always maintained his innocence and that it was an evil force controlling his body as he slaughtered his victims. Now Michal, the killer’s daughter, begins to suspect that there may be some truth to her father’s claim when those around her begin to die in brutal ways. She must try and break the curse of The Puppetman before all her loved ones are killed.

This is the new movie of Brandon Christensen, a special effects artist who has worked in What Keeps You Alive (2018), Bliss (2019), Spiral (2019), VFW (2019), and Influencer (2022), and who has been behind the horror movies Superhost (2021), Z (2019), and Still/Born (2017). He is also the co-writer of the screenplay together with Ryan Christensen and Matt Manjourides, a popular b-movies producer who has been involved in Father’s Day (2011), Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1 (2013), Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High Aka Vol. 2 (2017), Mutant Blast (2018), Castle Freak (2020), Dracula: The Original Living Vampire (2022), Subspecies V: Bloodrise (2023), and the TV series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs (2018–).

The main cast in The Puppetman (2023) is formed by Alyson Gorske, Anna Telfer, Kio Cyr, Cameron Wong, Zachary Le Vey, Angel Prater, Caryn Richman, and Michael Paré.

Produced by Not the Funeral Home, it is scheduled to be added to the Shudder streaming catalog on October 13, 2023.
