The Amityville Horror (1979) was a movie from the late 1970s, inside of the genre of the haunted houses possessed by vengeful spirits. Many many sequels and remakes after, this December the latest entry of the saga, entitled, Amityville: The Awakening (2017), is finally out on DVD and Blu-Ray.
In Amityville: The Awakening (2017), Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville House.
The movie is written and directed by Franck Khalfoun, a frequent collaborator of Alexandre Aja, with whom made together Maniac (2012) and P2 (2007). This time he walks alone, in this Blumhouse Productions, Dimension Films, and Miramax production. Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bella Thorne, Mckenna Grace, Cameron Monaghan, Thomas Mann, Taylor Spreitler, Jennifer Morrison and Kurtwood Smith star.
After a modest festivals run, and collecting very divided opinions, the producers for Amityville: The Awakening (2017) have recently released the first official trailer for the film, which can be seen here:
