What Napoleon, the Nazis and many others tried but didn’t succeed, the aliens are trying again. Like in some sort of Russian version of Independece Day (1996), it was in Attraction (aka Prityazhenie) (2017) where after an alien ship crash lands onto a Russian city, many who saw it and the occupants start to question their own existence while there are those who demand the aliens leave Earth. Now, 3 years after, the sequel for the movie arrives, Invasion (or Prityazhenie 2 in original Russian language) (2019).
In Invasion (2019), the action takes place three years after the events of the Attraction (2017) movie. Julia, who was saved from death with the help of extraterrestrial technologies, has unusual abilities now. The girl has become the object of the research conducted in secret laboratories of the Ministry of defense. Julia’s new abilities attract not only people on Earth, but they are also becoming a threat to extraterrestrial civilizations, because of that, the Earth is threatened with invasion.
As happened with the previous movie Invasion (2019) has been directed by veteran actor turned into action and science-fiction director Fedor Bondarchuk, known for other titles like Dark Planet (2009), its sequel Dark Planet: Rebellion (2009), and Stalingrad (2013). Again, the movie has been written by Oleg Malovichko and Andrey Zolotarev.
The sequel brings back most of the main characters of the first movie. It is starred by Alexander Petrov, Irina Starshenbaum, Rinal Mukhametov, Oleg Menshikov and Yuriy Borisov. Principal photography began in July 2018, in Moscow and are held in strict secrecy.
Invasion (2019) was released in the Russian Federation on December 26, 2019 by Walt Disney Studios Sony Pictures Releasing (WDSSPR). This month it is also scheduled to be released in other territories, including tomorrow the 3rd in Lithuania and Latvia, and the 9th in Germany.
