After its theatrical run, "Children of the Corn" is coming on Shudder

The new remake of Stephen King‘s popular short story Children of the Corn (2020) had its theatrical premiere on March 3, 2023, by RLJE Films on an 18-day window, and its next step is to be released on Shudder.

The movie centers around a psychopathic twelve-year-old girl in a small town in Nebraska who recruits all the other children and goes on a bloody rampage, killing the corrupt adults and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival.

This marks the return of Kurt Wimmer to the director’s chair after his semi-retirement after being behind the titles Ultraviolet (2006), Equilibrium (2002), and One Tough Bastard (1996). He has also been the writer of the screenplays for other Hollywood remakes Total Recall (2012) and Point Break (2015), as well as for Sphere (1998), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), The Recruit (2003), Street Kings (2008), and Salt (2010).

Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey, Bruce Spence, Alyla Browne, Connor Burke, Andrew S. Gilbert, Erika Heynatz, Stephen Hunter, Anna Samson, Sisi Stringer, Joe Klocek, and Mike Duncan form the main cast.

Children of the Corn (2020) is Rated R for violence and bloody images.

Shudder has scheduled the release of the movie for March 21, 2023, and it will also come out on Blu-ray and DVD on May 9, 2023.
