This horror thriller is a cat-and-mouse thriller about a mysterious man who breaks into a gay writer’s secluded cabin. Danger, excitement, and potential inspiration flood the writer’s mind. Has he found the perfect character for his new book or are his darkest and most dangerous fantasies about to come to life?
This is the first solo feature film of Alexander McGregor Birrell after having participated in Sleepaway Slasher (2020) where a group of budding filmmakers are invited to a competition at the site of an unfinished 80’s cult movie. It is based on his short film of the same name The Latent Image (2019). Both in the feature and the short film Joshua Tonks has been the co-writer and star.
The main cast of the film is completed with Jay Clift, and William Tippery.
The Latent Image (2022) has been part of the OUTshine Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Audience Award for Best Feature Film, Soho Horror Film Festival, Sohome Horror Pride, Queer Screams LGBTQ+ Genre Film Festival, and Fargo Moorhead LGBT Film Festival. After its theatrical premiere, it is already available on DVD and digital platforms.
