If you think the present sucks, most of the different futures that are shown on film seem to be even darker and more oppressive. We’re either going to be addicted to technology that will completely alienate our brains, or we’ll be subjected to military abuse ruled by pharmaceutical corporations. Or both! And, to be honest, and especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not too crazy to point out that this is the way we are going as a society. Was the COVID-19 pandemic an essay for worse things to come? I hope not, but at this point everything is plausible, I’m afraid.
Enough of the conspiracy shit, let’s focus on a piece of fiction now. Because horror and science-fiction movie Harmony (2022) is coming out this weekend. The movie is set in the very near future and it centers on Sophia, a wounded soldier who discovers the medical facility she has been placed in is not for her and her fellow soldier’s recovery, but something far more devious. So she sets out to uncover the true purpose of HARMONY.
This is the debut feature of Zachary Gross, who has been the producer, editor, co-writer, and director of the film. Micah McFarland and Nathan McFarland are also co-writers of the screenplay.
Marili Kateri, Mark Frazier, Elliott Bales, Alexandra Wehr, Pry’ce Jaymes, and Andrew S. Harper form the main cast in Harmony (2022).
The movie is scheduled for a digital release on June 24, 2022, by Gravitas Ventures.
