Stephen King‘s novels adaptations don’t cease to populate cinema and home screens. This time it is the turn for the adaptation of his novel Lisey’s Story, which combines the elements of psychological horror and romance, and was released on October 24, 2006. It won the 2006 Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel and was nominated for the World Fantasy Award in 2007.
The screenplay for the adaptation TV series Lisey’s Story (2021– ) has been written by the original book author Stephen King, it’s produced by J. J. Abrams, and directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín, responsible for awards-winner dramas Post Mortem (2010), and No (2012), and the biopics Neruda (2016), nominated for 1 Golden Globe, and Jackie (2016), nominated for 3 Oscars.
The series center on Lisey Landon, the widow of a famous and wildly successful novelist, Scott Landon. The book tells two stories, Lisey’s story in the present, and the story of her dead husband’s life, as remembered by Lisey during the course of the novel. And, soon, she becomes the object of a dangerous stalker, obsessed with her husband’s work.
Julianne Moore, Joan Allen, Dane DeHaan, Sung Kang, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Clive Owen, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Giovanni Celentano, Clark Furlong, and Ron Cephas Jones form the main cast.
The series consists of 8 episodes, the 2 first ones to premiere on June 4, 2021, on Apple TV+, and the closure one opening on July 16, 2021. Here you can watch its official trailer.
