Home invasions and robberies tend to have very bad consequences for the poor inhabitants of the residence, as seen in uncountable movies like, for example, The Strangers (2008), or it can have a twist where the attackers become attacked like other titles like Don’t Breathe (2016). Horror and action Hounded (2022) belongs to this second group, so let’s see what is at stake.
In the movie, a stately home robbery takes an evil turn one night when a gang of young thieves is caught by the owners of the house and then hunted across the estate for the proprietor’s entertainment. They shouldn’t have planned to rob the aristocracy. They shouldn’t have even attempted to take on an elite inner circle on their own stately home turf. And they definitely shouldn’t have got themselves caught. For now, the urban gang of arrogant thieves must fight for their lives as the evil lady of the manor sets her hounds loose on her estate to hunt them down for the most twisted sport.
This is the debut feature film of director Tommy Boulding, although he is familiar with the horror genre since he has a wide experience as an editor for titles like The Call Up (2016), Kaleidoscope (2016), Possum (2018), The Power (2021), Barbarians (2021), Shark Bait (2022), and Choose or Die (2022). Ray Bogdanovich and Dean Lines, the tandem of writers behind the screenplays for The Hatton Garden Job (2017) and The Banishing (2020), have been the writers for Hounded (2022).
The main cast is led by Samantha Bond, probably better known for playing Moneypenny in the 007 films starring Pierce Brosnan GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002). Malachi Pullar-Latchman, James Lance, Hannah Traylen, Nick Moran, James Faulkner, Larry Lamb, and Matt Addis also star.
Hounded (2022) had its world premiere at FrightFest on August 26, 2022, followed by its participation at Splat!FilmFest Horror Film Festival this month. After a limited theatrical release on October 21, 2022, the movie is coming out on digital on October 25, 2022.
