Sometimes, people who have visions, or talk to imaginary individuals, creatures, or objects are labeled to have mental diseases. And schizophrenia is one of the most dangerous ones. And I say sometimes because religious people also do and they seem to be accepted socially. I don’t understand why, but ok, that’s another story. So, schizophrenia, hearing voices, imagining things, those are succulent themes for horror movies.
In the psychological thriller Fear of Rain (2021), a girl living with schizophrenia struggles with terrifying hallucinations as she begins to suspect her neighbor has kidnapped a child. The only person who believes her is Caleb, a boy she isn’t even sure exists.
The movie has been written and directed by Castille Landon, that despite her young age she is already an experienced filmmaker having been the writer and director of the family comedy Apple of My Eye (2017) and action-adventure Albion: The Enchanted Stallion (2016). This time she has chosen a much darker story.
Madison Iseman, Katherine Heigl, Israel Broussard, Harry Connick Jr., Eugenie Bondurant, Enuka Okuma, Julia Vasi, Brian Yang, Lindsay Lamb, and Chiara D’Ambrosio form the main cast.
Fear of Rain (2021) is Rated PG-13 for mature thematic content, violence/terror, disturbing images, and some strong language. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on February 12, 2021, by Lionsgate. Here you can watch its trailer.
