Spirits are on the hunt for weak innocent souls again. This time, a young boy is trapped in his apartment with a sinister monster when he makes a wish to fulfill his heart’s greatest desire. Welcome to The Djinn (2021).
This horror-thriller follows a mute twelve-year-old, Dylan Jacobs, as he discovers a mysterious book of spells inside his new apartment. Grieving the loss of his mother, and feeling isolated from everyone except for his father, Dylan performs a ritual that promises to deliver his heart’s desire: to have a voice. But he soon discovers that every gift has a toll when a sinister djinn arrives to collect his soul. Now trapped in his new home with nowhere to hide, Dylan must find a way to survive until the stroke of midnight or pay the ultimate price.
The movie has been written and directed by David Charbonier and Justin Powell, the combo behind horror The Boy Behind the Door (2020), nominated for Best First Feature at Philadelphia Film Festival 2020. They are also the executive producers of the film.
The Djinn (2021) is starring Ezra Dewey, Rob Brownstein, Tevy Poe, John Erickson, Donald Pitts, and Jilbert Daniel.
Cleveland International Film Festival will see the premiere of The Djinn (2021) today April 8, 2021. IFC Midnight has the distribution rights and has scheduled the movie for a release on limited theaters and digital on May 14, 2021. Here you can watch its official trailer.
