Givers of Death (2020) is considered by their filmmakers “an apocalyptic sci-fi tale of redemption”. It is the journey of a man, a detective, and an entire city’s quest for peace. The man seeks peace through the atonement, the detective through revenge and the city through resolution. The film explores whether peace can be attained when one exists in constant chaos – be it in reality, or in the mind.
In the movie, an incurable virus has wiped out one-third of the world’s population. Many infected commit suicide to end their agony. Those who cannot bring themselves to end their own lives hire professionals. This is the journey of a hitman’s quest for peace as he navigates through a city on the brink of collapse, while on the run from a detective seeking revenge.
This is the debut feature film of the writer, director, producer, and main star Addison Henderson. Besides being behind a few short films and documentaries, he is more notorious for being the assistant and trainer of the late Chadwick Boseman in 21 Bridges (2019), Marshall (2017), and the Marvel films Avengers: Endgame (2019), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Black Panther (2018), and Captain America: Civil War (2016).
Together with Addison Henderson, the main cast in Givers of Death (2020) is formed by J.J. Alfieri, Jonathan Sterritt, Louis Lombardi, Jason Delane Lee, Yvonne Huff, Josie DiVincenzo, and Leah Lynette.
