The mysteries of the dark, the magic of the forest. There is still so much space that has been unexplored in our beloved planet. They say scientists discover around 50 new species of plants, animals or microorganisms every day. But what if there’s still something big out there, not in the bottom of the ocean but one of our deep and dense forests? People still believe in Bigfoot or Sasquatch, right?

The Devil Below (2021) tells the story of a group of four amateur adventurers who specialize in exploring remote and forsaken places pay a visit to Shookum Hills, a town in the remote Appalachian Mountains. The place was abandoned decades ago due to a mysterious coal mine fire. When a team of researchers try to find out how the fires started, they soon discover something more startling than the mystery that sent them there: they’re not alone.

Brad Parker, the director of Chernobyl Diaries (2012), has been in charge of The Devil Below (2021). The movie is based on a story by Eric Scherbarth, who is also the author of the screenplay together with Stefan Jaworski.

Will Patton, a veteran actor known for his participation in popular titles like Armageddon (1998), The Fourth Kind (2009), and Halloween (2018), is the most attractive name of the cast. Together with him, Alicia Sanz, Adan Canto, Zach Avery, Chinaza Uche, Jonathan Sadowski, Jesse LaTourette, William Mark McCullough, Alpha Trivette, Tom Proctor, and Nathan Phillips also star.

With the original title of Shookum Hills, The Devil Below (2021) had a limited theatrical release early this month via Vertical Entertainment. Here you can watch its official trailer.
