Presence (2022) is an eery and unsetting horror movie where a terrifying mysterious presence haunts a luxury yacht.
In the movie, after leaving New York after a mental breakdown, Jennifer is contacted by her best friend with good news concerning their joint business venture. Within the hour, Jennifer is boarding a private plane and walking down the dock to a billionaire’s private yacht. All seems well, except that Jennifer is plagued by violent, unsettling visions. Is her unchecked anxiety attempting to self-sabotage her once again… or has a sinister presence latched onto her?
This is the debut feature film of co-writer, editor, and director Christian Schultz. Peter Ambrosio has been the co-writer of the screenplay with Thomas Johnston producing and as the first assistant director.
The main cast in Presence (2022) is formed by Jenna Lyng Adams, nominated for several Screen Actors Guild Awards for her participation in the comedy series The Kominsky Method (2018–2021), and Dave Davis, present in horror movies like Starve (2014), Nocturna (2015), Dark Meridian (2017), and The Vigil (2019). Donny Broussard, Alexandria DeBerry, Major Dodge, Isaiah LaBorde, Octavio Pisano, and Teri Wyble also star.
The movie has had a festival run this year that included Popcorn Frights and Panic Fest. James Shapiro, EVP of US Distribution of XYZ Films said that Presence (2022) “is a smart and complex adult thriller that is perfect for date night. It’ll have everyone at the edge of their seats and we’re really excited to be partnering with Christian (Schultz, the director) to get his film out to audiences”.
