The streaming payment entertainment platform Netflix has since this month Alexander Aja’s next work “The 9th Life of Louis Drax”. The french director, loved by the horror fans forever because of his little remake masterpieces The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Piranha 3D (2010), and one of the pioneers of New French Extremety genre with Haute Tension (2003), finds in new technologies the perfect platform to release his newest production, away from the censorship and dictatorship of commercial theatre distributors. A move that filmakers with no joy of boundaries are recently making quite often.
The plot, as listen in the film portal IMDB.COM, reads “A psychologist who begins working with a young boy who has suffered a near-fatal fall finds himself drawn into a mystery that tests the boundaries of fantasy and reality”. Written by Max Minghella and starred by Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon and Michael Adamthwaite, “The 9th Life of Louis Drax” was suposed to be one of the little gems of the season in the matter of mystery thriller. But I guess we will have to conform to see it in the small screen as well as some festival screanings.
