"97 Minutes": A hijacked plane will crash in just 97 minutes when its fuel runs out
Jonathan Rhys Meyers and MyAnna Buring in 97 Minutes (2023)

97 Minutes (2023) might sound and look like a The Asylum production, but this time the movie had a budget a little bit higher. And I find it kinda funny that the official running time of the flick is 93 minutes, what a wasted chance.

This action thriller centers on a hijacked 767 that will crash in just 97 minutes when its fuel runs out. Against the strong will of NSA Deputy Toyin, NSA Director Hawkins prepares to have the plane shot down before it does any catastrophic damage on the ground, leaving the fate of the innocent passengers in the hands of Alex, an undercover Interpol agent who has been embedded in the terrorist cell.

Timo Vuorensola, known for being behind Iron Sky (2012), Iron Sky: The Coming Race (2019), and Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022), has been the director of 97 Minutes (2023). Pavan Grover, who has a supporting role in the film, is the writer and producer.

The main cast is formed by two big names from two different generations of Hollywood stars, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, known for the TV series Vikings (2013–2020), The Tudors (2007–2010), and Dracula (2013–2014), and the movies Killer Tongue (1996), Mission: Impossible III (2006), Damascus Cover (2017), Black Butterfly (2017), or Yakuza Princess (2021), and Alec Baldwin, an Academy Award nominee for his supporting role in The Cooler (2003) and also starring Beetlejuice (1988), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Malice (1993), The Shadow (1994), Mercury Rising (1998), and BlacKkKlansman (2018).

MyAnna Buring, Jo Martin, Michael Sirow, Anjul Nigam, Davor Tomic, Slavko Sobin, Peter Brooke, Austin Parsons, and Kasia Koleczek complete the main cast.

97 Minutes (2023) is out on June 9, 2023. Watch its official trailer here.
