2018 will welcome an R-Rated reboot for HELLBOY

Yes, and it is confirmed by Mike Mignola himself. The creator of the creature for the Dark Horse series of comic books back in 1994 shared yesterday the article published in The Hollywood Reporter where a new HELLBOY installment being in the works were disclosed. And later on, he published on his official Facebook account the message:

“Okay, here’s some news–
There IS going to be another HELLBOY MOVIE.
It’s going to be an R-rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and starring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.
More news to come soon—“

It’s good news to hear Neil Marshall, creator of great horror and action titles like Dog Soldiers (2002), The Descent (2005) and Doomsday (2008) will be in charge of the direction. Focused lately in directing episodes of some of the most successful TV Series of the last years like Game of Thrones, Hannibal or Westworld, this will mark his return to feature film with a title that is been expected by any fantasy, horror, action and comics aficionado since Guillermo del Toro signed Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) almost 10 years ago.

And David Harbour, who has also reached big popularity thanks another TV Series Stranger Things (2016 – ) where he plays Sheriff Jim Hopper, is chosen one to take the role of Hellboy. As stated in The Hollywood Reporter article, Millennium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin, where people from Dark Horse will also be involved.

What seems to be sure is that neither Guillermo del Toro nor Ron Perlman, whose portrait of Hellboy will be very hard to forget –if not impossible– won’t be involved in any aspect of this production.

Reportedly, Neil Marshall is now developing the new installment’s script together with Aron Coleite, whose latest work was the pilot episode for TV Series Star Trek: Discovery (2017). Pre-production appears to be in the works to have the movie ready for 2018. For the moment, the working title is Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. And as Mike Mignola said, “More news to come soon”.
