Do you remember how much of a summer hit was that spectacular Jan de Bont movie from the middle 1990s Twister (1996)? Because I do, one of those movies that everybody went to see to the cinemas and that became an icon for a generation, back then when the concept of “the movie of the summer” still existed. Now we can’t get amazed and surprised by a film anymore, but, come on, we can still enjoy a good flick. So, in the style of that little gem Twister (1996) now it comes 13 Minutes (2021).
In 13 Minutes (2021), four families in a Heartland town are tested when a massive storm hits, giving them just 13 minutes to get to shelter before the largest tornado on record ravages the town, leaving them searching for their loved ones and fighting for their lives. In the wake of total devastation, everyone must overcome their differences and find strength in themselves – and in each other – in order to survive.
This is the debut feature film of Lindsay Gossling, a reality TV and documentaries producer who has worked in Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion (2003) and wrote and produced awards-winner drama Un traductor (2018). She has also written the screenplay for 13 Minutes (2021) from a story of her collaborator and producer Travis Farncombe.
The main cast has some familiar faces like Thora Birch (American Beauty (1999), Ghost World (2001)), Amy Smart (Crank (2006)), Anne Heche (Psycho (1998)), and Paz Vega (Rambo: Last Blood (2019)). With them, Sofia Vassilieva, Laura Spencer, Peter Facinelli, Trace Adkins, Will Peltz, Gabriel Jarret, Yancey Arias, Tokala Black Elk, and Shaylee Mansfield also star.
13 Minutes (2021) is Rated PG-13 for peril, bloody images, thematic elements, and some strong language. The movie is coming out in theaters on October 29, 2021, and will be released on digital a month later, on November 19, 2021. Watch here its official trailer.
